Chanel meets Brooklyn
Recently I've had the chance to go and visit Brooklyn a number of times- for the Brooklyn Night Bazaar, The Renegade Craft Fair, and Smorgasburg- and every time I come away with such an appreciation for all of the really cool and up-and-coming things that are happening there. Sure, we may joke about the hipsters and their plaid shirts and beards (and maybe it's because we secretly want to be them), but beyond that there is so much creative energy, diversity (of food!), and a sense of community.
For this editorial shoot, we wanted to meld together two different concepts- the classic elegance of Coco Chanel, and the ease and industrial-vibe that is Brooklyn- as well as feature some of Brooklyn's landmarks (The Williamsburg Bridge, Jane's Carousel, and The Green Building).
Here is what Hannah, from HANALULU CO., shared:
For this inspiration shoot, we wanted to do something on the non-traditional side so took a classy and sophisticated brand, Chanel, and introduced it to good ole’ Brooklyn. We knew right off the bat that The Green Building would be the right setting for this matchmaking.
The goal was to show how you can have combine two unique concepts in a fun and modern way. To give us some initial direction, we fell hard for the classic Chanel colors of black, white, and blush pink. To emphasize and give a more bold and playful look, we mixed in contrasting patterns as well as pops of gold. Once we found the Marchesa “Chloe” gown from Gabriella NY, it perfectly set the tone for the entire shoot.
We wanted this to be about having a joyful celebration for couples that want to have fun on their big day, while still being able to maintain their own sense of style and personality.
Our beautiful shoot, captured by Jenny Futography, was featured this summer on both Brides.com and on Brooklyn Bride!!!
